MC-1D Paratrooper Parachute
The MC1-1C steerable paratrooper parachute was designed by the U.S. in 1988 based on the MC1-1B canopy. It is primarily used in pre-planned parachute jumps requiring precise soft landings in small target areas.

Differences Between Models
MC1-1C: Standard configuration, using low-porosity canopy fabric PIA-C-44378.
MC1-1D: Equipped with a new universal static line with static line snaps.

Additional Information
The basic canopy of existing models is the same as the MC1-1B but includes drawing changes from 1993, 1995, and 1996, as follows:
 

• The fabric was changed to 0.5-5.0 CFM porosity.
• The old 11-orifice design was modified to 17 orifices in 11 of the 30 canopy seams; Seams 4 and 26 each have 3 openings.
• Orifices on Seams 4 and 26 were reinforced with transverse tape between the upper edge of large orifices and the lower edge of new small openings.
• Shorter 22-foot suspension lines on the back canopy ropes are arranged 8 per rope instead of the previous 7.
• Shorter 25-foot control ropes are used.
• 11-3/4-inch bag straps are used instead of the old 8-3/4-inch ones.
• All materials are in the new U.S. Color 504 (foliage green).
• Zigzag reinforcing stitches (approximately 30 inches of suspension line) were added to main seams 6 to 25 (orifice areas only).
• The cut length of radial webbing is now shortened by 2-1/4 inches (17 feet) to ensure fabric fullness along the length of main seams.
• Reinforcement straps were added under each tie line inside the canopy-Main Seams 5 & 6; 25 & 26.
• Zigzag reinforcing stitches on designated main seams provide greater tear resistance.

These changes created a fast-opening canopy with a descent speed of approximately 4 to 5 feet per second and enhanced maneuverability (forward drive).
